Today’s Encouragement is, “The LORD himself watches over you! The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade.” Psalm 121:5 NLT
Watches Over You –
“Watching over” appears five times (NLT) in this short Psalm. The Hebrew word is “shamar,” and it could also be translated as keep, protect, save, and preserve.
We often hear people say, “Angels must have been watching over you” or perhaps pray for angelic protection.
But here, the Bible reveals the truth. It is God Himself who watches over, protects, and guards us. He can do that, you know, because He is unlimited, infinite, and infinitely powerful. He can love us, hear our prayers, provide for us, plan our lives, guide our steps, watch over us, and do all this and infinitely more for all His dearly loved people.
He watches over us to protect, keep, save, and preserve us, not to judge us. He doesn’t monitor our hearts and behaviors, watching for infractions. Jesus has paid abundantly for all of our wrongs and failures. God’s watching is for our good.
So when we feel alone, we aren’t. When we seem lost, we aren’t. When we think we’re never going to get better, we are! Your Loving Father is watching over you to protect and preserve you.
Thank You, Father, for Jesus, who has paid far more than enough for our every failure. And thank You for watching over us for our good. We could never deserve Your kindness and unlimited Love for us.
