Today’s Encouragement is, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16 NLT
When We Need It Most –
Most often, the focus in this verse is “come boldly to the throne,” which is vital to recognize. We are not, need not be, ashamed or fearful of being in God’s Presence. We are His dearly loved children, and He warmly welcomes us into His throne room. We can come to our loving heavenly Father boldly.
Yet an essential aspect of this verse has often been overlooked. “There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
We come boldly to God for His mercy and grace – when we need it most. That is, when we recognize how great our sins are and how desperately we need a Savior, we can come to Him boldly!
We aren’t boldly coming to God to get rewarded for our good deeds, or for instructions on our next assignment, but when we are at our wits’ end, at our worst – when our need for His grace and mercy is the greatest!
Strip away the pride, self-satisfaction, and ego, and whenever you need His grace and mercy, go to Him! Jesus, sitting at His right hand, has given us immediate, personal, face-to-face access to God Himself. And He generously, repeatedly, and lovingly provides us with abundant mercy and grace – when we need it most.
Father, thank You for always providing what we need, at the right time. Help us to come to You confidently, knowing and trusting that You will accept us and provide Your mercy and grace to us when we need it most.
