Today’s Encouragement is, “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3 NLT
Things Of Heaven –
What are you thinking? We choose our thoughts; no one else can. No one can “make you think” a certain way.
A reborn people, new creations, forgiven, cleansed, and deeply loved people of God, we have the opportunity to live and think differently! We are no longer tied down and enslaved to the things and thoughts of this world. We “died to this life,” and we are now “hidden with Christ in God.” Yes, this is difficult to grasp, but it is also clearly revealed. “Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”
When we think about the things of earth, of this human life, we see suffering, despair, injustice, and death. Thinking about the things of heaven, however, lifts our minds out of this earthly existence and into our eternal home; the life we already possess of peace, contentment, justice, purity, and perfect love. Where Jesus is king, and our life eternal is better than anything we could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
Truthfully, it isn’t easy to consider heaven as our real life, but we can choose to think about this truth, if only momentarily and occasionally. And for those few but glorious moments, this world fades away, and the truth, reality, and God’s immeasurable Love become clear!
Father, as we listen to this song, help us choose to think about the things of heaven, our true home, with You, eternally.
