Today’s Encouragement is, “When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, ‘Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.’” John 17:1-3 ESV
This Is Eternal Life –
In this last verse, Jesus describes eternal life for us. And it’s not what we expect. We expect that Eternal Life is our life in heaven, with Him and the Father, with no pain, no suffering, no time, no end, forever, which is pretty wonderful!
But that’s not what Jesus said. He said it is knowing – the only true God and Jesus Christ – This is Eternal Life! Now. Already. Not someday in the sweet by-and-by! But here and now. In the midst of life’s many challenges, we have Eternal Life because we know God and His Son, Jesus.
Friends, this is Faith, not Feeling; we are now, already living Eternal Life because He says so, regardless of how we feel or what we think. We choose to believe His promises, His words, His truth, and we choose what we doubt.
Father God, help us to accept what You have told us, the truth the Bible brings to us, and to abandon our preconceptions and the errors we have believed. Your Word is Truth; help us to accept it fully. Help us to know You and Jesus, and live now in the Eternal Life that He died to give us.
