Today’s Encouragement is, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” John 10:27-29 NLT
The Father’s Hand –
Truths That Transform: We are securely held in God’s hand.
One of the most frequently used analogies in the Bible, in both the Old and New Testaments, is that of the shepherd and the sheep. It was very familiar to the people, as shepherding was common in their culture.
David grew up as a shepherd, later became a giant-slayer and warrior-general, and ultimately King. He was also a songwriter. His words, “The Lord is my shepherd” (Psalm 23), have comforted millions and will continue to do so.
A shepherd is the only source of food, shelter, direction, safety, and protection for the sheep. They know Him, and He knows them, and they follow Him wherever He leads.
Jesus continued this analogy centuries later, and in this passage He says: We listen to Jesus; we know Him and follow Him. He gives us eternal life, and we will never perish. No one can snatch us away from Jesus, because God, the all-powerful One, has given us to Him. And no one can snatch us from God’s hand.
We are held securely and eternally in the Father’s hand.
Thank You, Father, for giving us everything we need: food, shelter, direction, forgiveness, and eternal life. We are grateful to rest securely in Your hand.
