Truths That Transform: We belong to God by His choice.
God, in His power and wisdom, chose you and me. He selected us – even before we were born. It wasn’t because we were so smart, good-looking, or capable; He selected us because He knew us. He knew who we would become; He knew where we would be right now, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. He knew us then; He knows us now, and He knows who we will become.
And He Still Chose us.
We are His; we belong to Him, not by our actions or choice, but by His choice. We want to think we have wisely chosen to follow Jesus, that it is our ability, faithfulness, or insight. But God is sovereign. He doesn’t consult anyone before He acts. He doesn’t need input or advice. He is Almighty and Omnipotent; He can do anything, and He chose to adopt you and me as His Very Own.
Father God, help us to recognize Your supreme authority and that You have chosen to make us Your own people, Your own sons and daughters by adopting us into Your family. Not as second-class members, but as Your Very Own. We are amazed that You would choose us, humbled by it, and we are eternally grateful.
