Today’s Encouragement is, “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT
God Will Generously Provide –
Truths That Transform: When we give happily, gratefully from our heart, God generously provides what we need and enough to share.
Notice the alert regarding pressure; so many forces cause pressure to give: guilt, shame, false promises, fear, an endless list. And all these pressures result in a reluctant gift, which is destructive.
God’s ways are higher. He doesn’t pressure us… at any time… to do anything. He guides, suggests, and whispers. He doesn’t need to shout at us. He is a perfectly loving Father.
Gifts, whether money, possessions, or time, when motivated by love, compassion, and generosity, have a powerful impact on both the giver and the receiver. In fact, the one who gives is more positively affected than the one who receives. Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35 ESV)
Generous giving flies in the face of this world’s lie, “Cling tightly to your stuff and your money; it’s yours!” God says, “Give as freely as you have received.” (Matthew 10:8b NLT)
Father God, help us be generous with all that You have given us. You alone gave it to us, either by granting us the ability to earn it or by granting it to us as a gift. Help us give our money, time, and love as freely as You have given them all to us.
