Today’s Encouragement is, “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.” Ephesians 6:12-13 NLT
Flesh And Blood –
When it seems that the people around you are attacking you for ‘no good reason,’ that’s exactly right. The reason is for evil, for no good! The enemy of our souls is always wanting to trip us up, cause us to get frustrated, discouraged, and ultimately give up on God, faith, and prayer.
When people are ‘after you,’ attacking, or just really annoying you, remember that the source of this behavior is not flesh and blood, it is our enemy. But God has exposed him and given us specific and effective tools to combat his attacks. (See Ephesians 6:14-18 for our protective armor and our weapon, God’s Word.)
Our enemy is defeated, but he still attacks us, especially when we are growing; he really hates that. He wants to stop us from becoming strong believers. Learn to resist him, be protected, and fight back with God’s Word.
And pray for your flesh and blood enemies. The true enemy is using them to try to hurt you. They are not your enemy; Satan is.
Thank You, Father, for giving us insight into this spiritual battle. And thank You for the protective armor You have provided for us; help us to wear it and to take up the sword of Your Word to cut away every harmful attack.
