Today’s Encouragement is, “For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:7-8 NLT
To Honor The Lord –
“We don’t live for ourselves.” But we think we do; we act like we do. Instead, we live to honor the Lord.
All of us, not just the ‘really good Christians’ who have it all together and live perfectly happy lives. (Do you know even one of those people?) All of us live – for the purpose of honoring the Lord.
Before it starts, refuse to accept any guilt or condemnation for how poorly we’ve done this in the past. Because there is no condemnation for believers. (Romans 8:1)
But it is wise to reflect on our lives occasionally and to consider how God is calling us to live as His dearly loved people on this earth. We don’t earn ‘points’ with Him or earn our salvation by what we do, yet our lives are enriched, more fulfilling, and more blessed when we move towards Him in faith.
So, how are we doing in this area? How are we living to honor Jesus? After all, we are His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20).
Spiritual growth begins with faith, then willingness, then prayer. We can ask God (He always waits for us to ask Him), and then we step out of our comfort zone in faith, trusting Him to do in and through us what He has placed before us.
Father, we need You to change us, to give us the desire and willingness to grow in faith. Help us Lord, to live to honor You.
