Today’s Encouragement is, “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” Romans 8:1-2 NLT
You Belong to Christ –
Sometimes our terminology, our human understanding of spiritual matters, is a bit off, or even wrong. Because we are human and make mistakes, we often distort God’s Truth to fit our desires and preferences.
One example is, “I have invited Jesus into my heart.”
God calls us, we respond. We don’t initiate the invitation; God does the inviting. He then begins living within us through His Holy Spirit.
We sometimes think and act as if Jesus is a guest in our lives, a passenger who helps us get what we want, makes us nicer people, heals us, restores our marriage, and makes us more successful and comfortable, like a good luck charm.
But God’s Word says we belong to Him. He is in control of us, not the reverse. We don’t, and cannot, control Him, no-one and no-thing can. But in truth, He controls us because we are His. So, now there is no condemnation, and we are freed from sin’s power!
Father God, help me to realize and embrace the Truth that I belong to You. My mind, health, wealth, time, and talents are all Yours to use as You choose! Everything I am, everything I do, everything I have is Yours. I surrender all to You.
