Today’s Encouragement is, “The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18 NLT
Power Of God –
God sent, and still sends, a clear message to all people; Jesus, His son, died to save everyone who believes in Him. It’s the message of the cross. It’s a clear message.
Some believe, and some don’t. For those of us who are being saved, who believe, this message is the very power of God. To others it is foolish!
God uses ordinary things and ordinary people to demonstrate His power and His love.
Consider:
Jesus came as a baby.
Born in a barn, in a tiny village to unimportant parents.
He grew up in a ‘nowhere town’
He began to preach to ordinary people; He didn’t demand an audience with the king or the important people. He called a dozen ordinary guys to be His students and representatives.
He healed the poor, sick, outcast, children, and demon-possessed.
He forgave the trash of society, tax collectors, and prostitutes.
He died the most agonizing and ignoble death.
He returned from the grave and appeared to His followers and ordinary people.
He ascended into heaven before a small crowd of ordinary people.
God’s wisdom, the message of the cross, the very power of God, is foolish to those who view this world from a human perspective.
But we know – the message of the cross – is the very power of God – it is His immeasurable Love for us.
Father, we thank You for Your wisdom. And thank You for clearly demonstrating Your perfect Love for us, Your own ordinary people.
