Love Fulfills

Today’s Encouragement is, “For the commandments say, ‘You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.’ These-and other such commandments-are summed up in this one commandment: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.” Romans 13:9-10 NLT

Love Fulfills –

Jesus taught the truth. Even when it contradicted the entire belief system of the faithful people of God. God chose them, taught His laws, and gave the grace of animal sacrifice for the times they failed.

The laws didn’t change when Jesus came. But our fulfillment of and our response to the laws of God did change. Here Jesus explains this monumental shift. “Love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.”

When we love our neighbor as ourselves, all the requirements of God’s law are fulfilled!

God is Love. (1 John 4:8)
We love because He first loves us. (1 John 4:19)
Love fulfills the requirements of God’s law. (Romans 13:10)

God is pleased when we love others. And in a sense we are loving Him when we extend His love to others. Consider, “You have shown your love to him by caring for other believers.” (Hebrews 6:10b). So, we show our love to God by caring for (loving) others.

And even when we fail, Jesus’ perfection becomes ours, and we are forgiven. (Philippians 3:8-9) What more could God do for us?

Father, help us to accept Your perfect Love for us. To recognize the incredible price Jesus paid and the Gift You gave us, because of Your Love for us. Help us now to extend Your unlimited love to others and to ourselves. We ask in Jesus’ Name.
