Same Precious Faith

Today’s Encouragement is, “This letter is from Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior.” 2 Peter 1:1 NLT

Same Precious Faith –

Did you get that? Peter, a disciple and one of Jesus’ closest friends, wrote this letter to us, his fellow believers, ‘who share the same precious faith.’

How can this be? Surely his faith is far greater than that of others in his day, and ours today, right? Surely his experiences with Christ, the time Peter spent in close contact with Him, the struggles and suffering that he endured, surely, we presume, Peter had great faith; he even walked on water with Jesus!

Yet his words, not mine, speak to believers of his day and forever, that we all ‘share this same precious faith’!

He goes on to explain that this precious faith was given, not earned by us in any way, because it is a perfect gift of the just and fair Lord Jesus.

Every good gift comes from God and His gifts are perfect! (James 1:17) And we cannot add to these perfect gifts. We can use them, exercise them, practice them, and thus grow in our faith, but the precious gift of faith is graciously and fairly given to us undeserving humans.

Is it possible that Jesus has already, in His justice and fairness, given us this “same precious faith,” along with everything else we will ever need (see v3)? Already Given?

Thank You, Father, for Your perfect mercy and love and also for the justice and fairness of Jesus.

Already All I Need
