So We Will Not Fear

Today’s Encouragement is, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.” Psalm 46:1-2 NLT

So We Will Not Fear –

Everyone experiences times of trouble. For some, it seems the “times” never end, and others seem to rarely have any. Troubles may be a result of our actions and decisions, or they may be random.

One conclusion we often draw when we suffer difficulties in life needs to be exposed as a lie. That is, “When something bad happens to me, it is God punishing me for my sins.” And sadly, I have spent most of my life believing this lie.

First, if trouble resulted from our sin, we and everyone else in this world would always be in trouble! We are all sinners, and no one does everything right all the time! So punishment would be dealt to everyone, always!

But more importantly, Jesus Christ died and rose again specifically to pay the price of all our sins. There can be no punishment for us when Jesus has already received all the punishment that we fully deserve!

The truth is:
Stuff happens.
This is a fallen world.
Life is unfair.
God is our refuge and strength
He is always ready to help us in times of trouble.
So we will not fear.

Just ask Him, trust Him, and rest in His refuge and His strength.

Father, help us accept the forgiveness Jesus provides and rely on Your strength and protection as we face the inevitable hardships of this earthly life.

Peace Be Still
Hope Darst
