Today’s Encouragement is, “For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Romans 10:10 NLT
Openly Declaring –
Many of us believers, myself included, are reluctant to declare our faith openly. We are willing to believe, if somewhat tentatively, in Jesus as Lord of all and as our Savior, but at the next step of openly declaring, we too often balk.
Because we are afraid.
We are afraid (use the word concerned if it makes you feel more comfortable) of how people will react, what they will think, perhaps that we won’t be able to follow through, that it won’t be a real, permanent change, or that we will mess up and fail at this new Christian life. We can come up with a thousand reasons to stop short of fully embracing the new life in Christ that we are offered.
And yet, there are so many reasons to positively fully engage, through faith, with Him! He promises us a new life, He promises to be with us always, to provide for us, to guide us, to fulfill the plans He has for us, and more. These promises and His fulfillment belong to those who are right with God, and who are saved by openly declaring their faith.
The abundant Christian life is not available to the half-hearted. We must fully surrender our lives, to risk everything, and go “all-in” in order to become new creations.
Father, we admit that we need Your strength in every aspect of our lives, and especially in this area. Help us, Lord, to be courageous, fully trusting in You, and to openly declare our faith.
