Today’s Encouragement is, “One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.” Luke 18:1 NLT
Never Give Up –
The story that Jesus then told is a remarkable one. (But weren’t they all?) The essence is, continue to pray for what you need.
Remember, God is our loving and perfect Father, our provider, and He is for us. Jesus invited us to pray, ask, and seek.
We often pray for one thing today and another tomorrow. And never recognize our inconsistency.
Many of us have prayed as this verse advises, persistently and with all the faith we can muster, and the request has not yet been answered. God is not ours to command. We ask in prayer; we do not give orders to Him. He chooses what is best for us. We may think we know what that is, but He knows absolutely.
He sometimes answers “Yes” or “No” but often “Not yet.” This is the time we can be persistent. Because God is Love (1 John 4:8), we can always trust His decision, even when it might be very disappointing or even painful.
Finally, even when the door seems shut and the obstacles too great, we have been given clear permission and direction to pray and Never Give Up.
Father, help us to pray with patience and trust. And when Your answer is “not yet,” keep us faithful and unwavering, resting in confidence in Your love and Your perfect timing.
