Today’s Encouragement is, “Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught.” Luke 10:39 NLT
Sat Listening –
Jesus visited the home of Mary, Martha, and their brother Lazarus, and they were His close friends.
We aren’t told what He said, but we are told that Mary sat at his feet listening intently to Him.
What follows is pure speculation, imagination, but intentionally aligned with scripture. Is it possible that Jesus said something like, “Because you trust in Me, I want you to be confident and assured that I am always with you, that I have provided for you an eternal home of peace and joy. And not only for the distant future and for all eternity, but also for this present moment. You can rest, now, in my presence, safe, secure, forgiven, pure, and perfect. I am always with you, and you are always safe, forgiven, and deeply loved by me.”
How could He express His unlimited Love for us beyond such words? What physical sign could He provide to demonstrate His Love, Power, and Forgiveness?
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8 NLT
Jesus affirmed His great love for us, all who believe in Him, in every possible way. He even died for us sinners, to set us free. “God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:17 NLT
Thank You Father, for Jesus, our perfect Savior and our dearest Friend. Help us to sit at His feet and listen.
