Today’s Encouragement is, [Moses prayed] “‘Turn away from your fierce anger. Change your mind about this terrible disaster you have threatened against your people!’ So the LORD changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had threatened to bring on his people.” Exodus 32:12a,14 NLT
Change Your Mind –
In this situation, God was furious with the sin of the people and told Moses that He would destroy them. But Moses interceded with God, praying that He would not destroy the nation, and God changed His Mind.
This also happened in Jonah when God determined to destroy the people of Nineveh, but they repented and prayed. (Jonah 3:8), and also in Isaiah, when God determined to end Hezekiah’s life, but he prayed! (Isaiah 38:1-6)
God does not change (Malachi 3:6), but when we pray, God hears and responds to His dearly loved people. As any loving Father would, He listens and considers, and then decides. He alone decides; we don’t. But we can ask Him for anything – for Miracles, for Mercy, for Help, for our every need! Paul said, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians 4:6 NLT
Thank You, Father, that You hear our prayers, that You listen, and that You care about us. Help us to continue to pray in faith, asking You for our needs, and help us to accept Your final decision, in faith that You always act in our best interest. Thank You for the incredible privilege of prayer!
