My Sheep

Today’s Encouragement is, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” John 10:27-29 NLT

My Sheep –

Most of us recoil a bit when we are compared to sheep; it’s not a very flattering analogy! But Jesus didn’t use flattery; He simply spoke the Truth! And there is great truth in the concept of Jesus as our shepherd and us, His followers, as His sheep!

Sheep are well known for being dumb, but they are also well known for being followers! Jesus said that we (His sheep) know His voice, He knows us, and we follow Him!

Sheep are also utterly dependent on their shepherd. They follow blindly, in complete trust that He will lead them to quiet waters, peaceful green pastures, and will protect them – with His very life!

Shepherds know their sheep individually. They tend to the injuries and give special attention to the older and younger ones. This care is for each individual.

God the Father, in His perfect power, has given you and me to Jesus, to be led by, cared for, watched over, and protected by Him. Nothing and no one can snatch us from the Father’s Hand! We are “Unsnatchable!”

Thank you, God, for the beautiful truth that we are Your sheep, that Jesus is our perfect Shepherd, that we know His voice, and that we follow Him! Help us to trust in Jesus, to rest in His care, safely and peacefully.
