Today’s Encouragement is, “Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:30-31 ESV
Renew Their Strength –
In our youth, we were confident in our own strength. We certainly had more strength then! But even with that strength, we became exhausted at times.
As God’s people, when we become weary and exhausted, we can renew our strength! Not in ourselves, not by our own plans, but by trusting in the Lord! We have tried to renew our strength in our own way. We rationalize, “I need this to relax. This will get me going again. This will help me.” But it doesn’t last, and often whatever we use to make us feel better, keep going, cope with the pain of life, leads to self-destruction, addiction, and ultimately death.
His strength is the answer, not ours.
And His strength, unlike that of our youth, is inexhaustible, unlimited, and freely available—to those who wait for Him, who trust in Him!
We all get weary and exhausted at times. Our strength is limited. In fact, Jesus said that without Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5), but we can do all things through Christ, who gives us Strength (Phil 4:13). Through Christ.
Help us, Lord, to look to You alone for our strength. Help us to wait for You to renew our strength rather than relying on our own abilities and plans. We choose to trust You.
