Good Gifts

Today’s Engagement is, “Jesus asked, ‘What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!’” Luke 11:11-13 ESV

Good Gifts –

God only gives His children good gifts. So, it is foolish to say, “Be careful what you pray for!” When well-meaning Christians say this, they are suggesting that God grants our every prayer, even when it may be harmful, painful, or even destructive to His dearly loved people! This attitude is often related to the false wisdom of “Don’t ever pray for patience!” and the half-joking, “God’s gonna get you for that!”

Popular or witty statements such as these are lies from the enemy intended to destroy the truth of our Father’s Perfect Love for us! We can place our trust and faith in the Truth of God’s Word, but man’s ‘wisdom’ is often very flawed and sometimes completely untrue!

My friend, God doesn’t grant us anything that harms us, period. Reread the scripture.

Our Father Loves us. He provides for us. He hears our every prayer, every cry. And He responds to us in His perfect way, wisdom, and timing. He is never early, late, unkind, or wrong in His perfect response to the prayers of His dearly loved people!

Our Loving Father God, please grant us the blessing of understanding that Your Perfect Love for us assures us that You are for us, caring, watching, providing, encouraging, guiding, and always loving us. We Trust You, Lord!
