What You Have

Today’s Encouragement is, “Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless-like chasing the wind.” Ecclesiastes 6:9 NLT

What You Have –

The book of Ecclesiastes contains some of the greatest wisdom. As in Proverbs, God provides His dearly loved people with His wisdom.

This thought applies to us today (as does the entire Bible!).

When we consider, recognize, and enjoy the many blessings we do (now, already) have, we are living in grateful contentment with what God has (now, already) provided us.

The perfect recipe for perpetual misery is the opposite: discontentment, the state of mind that, whatever is being considered, is “Not enough!”

Want to be miserable? Try envy, staring at the house, car, boat, wife, health, success, or anything else that your neighbor (or a celebrity) has, and you don’t.

“Then he [Jesus] said, ‘Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.’” Luke 12:15 NLT

An Old Hymn titled “Count Your Blessings” included the line, “and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.” Try it! See if you aren’t surprised, grateful, and encouraged by all that God has done, given, and provided for you.

We are most blessed when we are grateful for all He has done!

Thank you, Father, for all You have given us, for Eternal Life, salvation by faith in Jesus, forgiveness, Gracious favor, and Your Love! Help us to enjoy what You have given us!
