Today’s Encouragement is, “Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.” Matthew 28:5-6 NLT
He Is Risen –
Just like at His birth, God announced His greatest gift, His greatest action, the world -transforming miracle, to a handful of insignificant ordinary people.
The angel came to earth with an earthquake, rolled away the stone, sat down on it, and announced to a couple of his followers, two women, that Jesus was no longer dead. The guards were there too, but they fainted (v4)!
Ever wonder why? Is it possible that it was because these ladies loved Jesus? They were there when He was crucified; they had served Him and His disciples throughout His ministry. But He revealed Himself to them not because of their service; His disciples served Him too, but these women loved Him. They went to the tomb that morning expecting to wash his dead body, anoint it with perfume and spices, according to their cultural tradition, out of their great love.
Jesus was selective after His Resurrection, in whom He encountered. Perhaps it was because of Love.
He didn’t reveal Himself to Pilate, Herod, the High Priest, or any of the others who crucified Him. He wasn’t returning to life for them! He returned to those who believed in Him, who loved Him!
Thank You, Lord, that You relate to Your people based on our relationship, Your sovereign choice, not based on our position, power, or popularity. You love us ordinary folks, who in turn love You. Thank You, Lord, for revealing Yourself to us!
Forever
