Has Freed You –
You are already, now, set free!
Bible scholars have translated the ancient Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament) languages with great care and accuracy. This includes the grammatical tense of the writing. We can be completely confident of the accuracy of the Bible translation.
Here, the use of the past tense clearly reveals to us that “the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death!” It is done; we are free from the power of sin! This freedom was won, for us, not by us. By the power of God’s Holy Spirit! And His Spirit gives Life!
The reason for this freedom we now have (whether we accept or acknowledge it or not) is not our goodness, worth, or efforts; not by our devotion, faithful service, diligent prayer, or any other act or attitude of our own- but only because –
You. Belong. To Him.
As His people, our status, our state of being, is defined by Him. This world, man’s collective wisdom, our own knowledge, and perspective do not determine the truth about us. God alone defines us. We learn this truth through the Bible, and then we have the choice to accept, believe, and enjoy the Truth, or to choose the skepticism, fear, and doubt of this world. We choose.
God’s truth is unchanged. Our beliefs determine where we live: either within His Truth or outside it.
Thank You, Our Father, for choosing us to be Your own people. Thank You for already setting us free!
