Today’s Encouragement is, “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” 1 John 4:16 NLT
God Loves Us –
When someone expresses their love to us, how do we respond? We can be afraid, enraptured, thrilled, or horrified. We can reject them immediately, accept their love with some reservations, embrace it wholeheartedly, or respond tentatively with reservations and doubt. We can even deny their words (talk is cheap!), but we will have some response, with a wide range of possible variations.
Is it possible that we respond similarly when God says He loves us? All the extremes. We even say, “Well, yeah, maybe so, but if you really loved me, this or that wouldn’t have happened to me!”
We’ve been around the block; we know how people are, how they all want something from us!
There is one exception to that. God. He loves us, knowing perfectly well who we are. He doesn’t need or want anything from us! He only wants to give us the unimaginable, priceless, and perfect gifts of His grace, forgiveness, eternal life, and Love.
He offers. We respond.
Our Father God, we thank You with all we are for extending Your Perfect Love to us. Help us to “put our trust in Your Love” and lay aside every fear, reservation, and concern and simply say “Yes, Lord!”
