Today’s Encouragement is, “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!” Mark 13:32-33 NLT
That Time Will Come –
The Bible contains several passages and parables about being ready, prepared, alert, and doing our duty until the end.
We don’t want to hear it, do we? We just want to go on ‘doing our thing’ and let whatever happens happen.
But, in wisdom and kindness, we’ve been taught to be prepared. A wise person prepares for tomorrow, for the unexpected, for the future, for retirement, and for us as believers, for Eternity.
Jesus was speaking in this passage about His Return and the Final Day. He adds that no one knows the day or the time and ends with the clear message, Stay Alert!
We know that ‘that time’ will come. We know ‘our time’ will come. And we are counseled to be ready, alert, and prepared.
When our loved ones pass away, especially those who love Jesus, we often say, “He was ready.” We refer to relief from this life, perhaps long and blessed, or a life of suffering, but truly ready, by faith in Jesus, for the new life that awaits all who believe.
And this New Life, my friend, is worth preparing for! Beyond our imagination, glorious, wonderful, joyful, peaceful, and eternal. I’m ready!
Thank You, Father, that Jesus has prepared a place for us in Your home (John 14:2) and that the time will come for us to be gathered together with You. Help us be ready!
