Today’s Encouragement is, “’ No!’ Peter declared emphatically. ‘Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!’ And all the others vowed the same.” Mark 14:31 NLT
I Will Never –
Imagine you are Peter. One ordinary day, you meet a man who tells you how to do your job, toss your net again, and you have the greatest catch of fish ever! You leave everything to follow this man. You become one of his most trusted companions. He speaks to you privately, proclaims your future success, and even rebukes you. You come to believe that he is the Messiah, the Son of God, and you begin to worship Him.
What an experience Peter had! Now Jesus tells him, his most loyal friend, “It’s going to get ugly, and you’re going to deny me.”
With full conviction, Peter exclaims, “Never, Lord; not me!”
But he did, and the rooster crowed.
Such betrayal! After three years of training, teaching, and companionship!
How did Jesus treat him the next time they were together?
He asked Peter, “Do you love me? Then feed my sheep.” (John 21:15-17)
No scolding, rebuke, lecture, self-evaluation, or asking for an apology.
Just Grace! Forgiveness! Mercy! And Love!
This is Jesus’ heart for us! We fail; we have good intentions, but we still fail. Jesus already knows. And He still loves and forgives because we belong to Him.
Thank You, Father, for the overwhelming Love, mercy, and Grace that You extend to us through Christ Jesus! Help us to see with a new and clear vision, the depths of Your Love for us.
