Today’s Encouragement is, “Then he asked me, ‘Son of man, can these bones become living people again?’ ‘O Sovereign LORD,’ I replied, ‘you alone know the answer to that.’” Ezekiel 37:3 NLT
You Alone Know –
Isn’t this interesting? Ezekiel’s answer to the Lord was different from what we might expect. Most of us would have said, emphatically, “No!” Maybe with “Don’t be ridiculous!” thrown in!
We would respond from our human perspective, with intelligent doubt, that it’s certainly not humanly possible for dry bones to live again.
But Ezekiel was a man of God, so he both heard God’s question and replied to Him in an atmosphere of Faith, perhaps with some expectation. God brought him in the spirit to the place where the bones littered the ground (v1), and He led Ezekiel around (v2), showing him how many dead and dry bones covered the landscape.
God didn’t need Ezekiel’s faith to bring the bones back to life. Ezekiel didn’t ask God to do this. God chose to demonstrate His absolute power in this example.
And Ezekiel chose to respond to God in humble faith and expectation. When we face the impossible, we also have the choice between faith in God and doubt.
Choose Faith.
Father, we thank You for choice, help us to always choose faith in You! Regardless of the obvious earthly “reality,” You can do anything!
