The Scriptures Say

The Scriptures Say –

Today’s Encouragement is, [Jesus replied,] “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.'” Matthew 4:10 NLT

Seems strange, doesn’t it? Immediately after Jesus’ baptism, God’s Holy Spirit descended as a dove, and God’s voice spoke audibly, then the Spirit of God led Jesus into the wilderness –
to be tempted!?!

We are familiar with what happened then. After fasting for forty days (I have trouble with forty minutes!), the devil tempted Jesus three times, and each time Jesus responded with God’s word!

Note this one point. When Jesus quoted his final rebuttal, He revised the original scripture (He can do that since He is God!) He said, “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.'” Matthew 4:10 NLT

This is a quote from Deuteronomy 6:13a NLT: “You must fear the LORD your God and serve him.” Notice the difference? Jesus replaced the word fear with Worship!
And didn’t He do that throughout His ministry? He replaced the fear of our Father God, fear of the future, fear of everyone and everything… with Faith and Worship!

Is it possible that – Faith in Christ replaces all fear?

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for all that You have done for us! You have given us the gift of Faith so that we can worship You and the Father without fear, in complete trust, hope, and Love. We choose to Worship You!
