Today’s Encouragement is, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 NLT
Think About –
The way we think, and the things we think about, have tremendous power over our lives. It’s obvious once we give it a moment’s thought… our thinking, our thoughts control the trajectory of our lives!
A positive, hopeful outlook will yield a positive, hopeful day, year, and life. And a negative, doubtful perspective will yield that type of experience.
Every. Single. Time.
We have all experienced the latter; perhaps we should try the former.
This passage provides God’s wisdom on what to think about. And all these attributes are descriptive of Jesus, who He is and what He has done for us, and what He has given to us!
We all have ‘bad days’ when we are focused only on ourselves, our problems, pain, and troubles. We can even focus on praying for God’s help with all our self-issues and still remain in the darkness of discouragement, doubt, and despair. We have a choice; we have free will to choose!
So, we can choose, even in our pain, sorrow, and sadness, to look up! To raise our tear-stained eyes and our aching hearts to Jesus. He died to give us freedom from despair, to ignite the eternal hope of His Love, forgiveness, and promise of paradise with Him!
Father, help us turn from the darkness surrounding us to the Light of Jesus! Help us think about Him. Christ alone is “excellent and worthy of praise!”
