For I Know

Today’s Encouragement is Job 19:25 ESV For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.

For I know –

Job was a very good man; the Bible calls him ‘blameless and upright’ (Job 1:1).  He was also very blessed by God.  But he suffered the complete loss of everything he had except his wife and his life.  All his wealth, even his health, was gone.  He was devastated, hopeless, and utterly humiliated.

Yet… From the midst of his unbearable gloom and intense suffering, and a tempest of questioning, doubting, examining his situation, life and death, righteousness, and unrighteousness… a few amazing words emerge.  Words of eternal hope and unwavering faith.

Job said – Though he slay me, I will hope in him. (Job 13:15a)

And also – The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. (Job 1:21b)

And Job spoke… I Know, I have no doubt, that my Redeemer Lives! (Job 19:25)

With these words of great faith, Job, in his hurricane of suffering, provides us with strength for our own trials and pain.  He continued in faith.  He honored God and trusted Him, even when his world had been devastated. He remained faithful!

Thank You, Father, that You stand always, that You alone are our Hope, and Jesus is our Redeemer, our Savior, and our God!

My Redeemer Lives
