Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 6:9 NLT [Jesus said, ] “Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.”
Our Father –
Our relationship with God is defined in multiple ways throughout the Bible. Often, He is the shepherd, we are His sheep; He is The Holy One immeasurably high above all peoples; He is like a potter, and we like clay; and various other similes and metaphors are provided to enable us to understand the nature of our relationship.
And the best, highest, most accurate revelation of our relationship with Him?
Our Father.
Jesus made this clear in addressing prayer to Our Father, leaving no question about Him as Father and us as His family, the true sons and daughters of the Living God!
Many of us may have difficulty with a father image. Our earthly fathers may have been very good examples of the nature of a Father. They may have been absent, abusive, or neglectful… Such that our concept of ‘father’ is seriously damaged. The idea of a deep emotional wound, called ‘The Father Wound’ has been widely acknowledged by psychologists in recent decades.
Yet my friend, God is our Perfect, Loving, Eternal, Kind, Wise, Forgiving, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, and personally knowable Father! And He has provided, through Christ, The Only Way for us to be in true, unashamed, unafraid, peaceful, and loving relationship with Him. He loves you and me that much!
Father God, help us to always come, to even run to You as our loving Daddy, in complete trust, and there to rest in Your loving embrace.
Run to the Father
