Today’s Encouragement is 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 (NLT) So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. 12 Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Only God can enable us to live a life worthy of His call; we cannot accomplish this ourselves. His Spirit works within us… To do His will. This working within us could be called a ‘Faith Prompt’, a thought, an idea, which comes from His Holy Spirit living inside us, to do a certain thing. A phone call, an encouraging word, an action… Done in Faith, following the Faith Prompt… (v 12) Leads to Honor for Jesus.
Any act of kindness, big or small, done in response to a ‘Faith Prompt’ (an urging from God) will Honor Him. But it can be mistaken as your goodness, rather than God’s… unless we acknowledge Him clearly. A simple ‘I felt like God asked me to…’ is all it will take to show that the honor is due to Him, not to us!
Father God, live in and through us this day. Speak to us with clear Faith Prompts and give us the courage to obey in Faith. And thank You for Your grace when we choose not to.
