Today’s Encouragement is Proverbs 21:2 ESV Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the heart.
Every way of a man-
We are Right! Right? Aren’t we the only ones who know what is right for us?
Nobody’s gonna tell ME what to do! (Emphasis on ME!) We each think we are the smartest human on the planet who ever existed in all of time, maybe except Jesus… In every way we choose, in everything- we think we are right!
We’re so smart that we don’t need anyone, anytime, to try to tell us anything!
Ok, how is that working out for ya?
Our own will, self-will, is not a reliable source! It is greedy, selfish, lustful, craving, and insatiable! We want what we want when we want it. Most of us who have lived a few years, tried this a few times, have learned that this ain’t a good plan!
We need guidance, direction, like sheep… (not my comparison) Isaiah 53:6a ESV – All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—everyone—to his own way.
So, God, because He is wise and loving… gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us. (John 16:13)
And not only do we need guidance… we also need forgiveness for our foolish selfishness; we need grace! We need a Savior!
So, there was Jesus!
Thank You, Father, for the wonderful gifts You’ve given us, Your Holy Spirit to guide us, and the Lord Jesus to cleanse us!
