Today’s Encouragement is Romans 8:1 NLT So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
No condemnation –
The enemy of our souls, Satan, is always trying to condemn us, pointing out our faults, failures, and foibles. He uses every means at his disposal to do this! Some examples are a ‘well-meaning friend’ who suggests that your illness is due to ‘unconfessed sin’, or even our own innate sense of right and wrong, convicting us of sinful behavior, creating shame and guilt and defeat.
God’s spirit convicts the world of sin (John 16:8) but He does not condemn us! The difference is duration… the Spirit-induced conviction of sin is a moment of clear recognition, allowing us to see clearly, and then turn from (repent of) the sin.
In contrast, Condemnation and its partners, guilt and shame are lingering morose companions wallowing with us in the pigsty of failure to ‘be good enough for God.’
Spend no time with them! The condemnation crowd is everywhere, whispering its deathly lies, “You can’t, you won’t, God can’t, God won’t, you’ll never, it’s useless…” the allegations of this enemy are endless.
The response of the believer to such a barrage is – just as Jesus did in the wilderness, “It is written”. He consistently used the Word of God to counter the accusations and temptations of the enemy. Only God’s Word is powerful enough to counter the allegations of our enemy!
And God says, “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”
Thank You Father that we are now free from Condemnation and its allies Guilt and Shame. Help us refuse to allow them to whisper their lies to our hearts. But instead, to turn to Your Truth!
