Fragile Clay Jars

Today’s Encouragement is 2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

Fragile Clay Jars –

Hopefully, you’ve heard a consistent theme from Today’s Encouragement, that God is working in us, His Power, His Spirit, to help us, strengthen us, and to bring Him glory.  It’s not us, not our strength or power… but Him, His strength and power.

Him! Not us!

We are plain fragile clay jars, that crack and crumble over time or with just the slightest bump of adversity. Now is it possible that – God allows us to remain as plain fragile vessels… for the entire duration of our journey of life here on earth, which is one tiny dot on the massive canvas of eternity… so that – He can be clearly seen as the strength, the hope, the power, and the Love within us… is it possible?

Too often we think if I can just… be a better Christian, do more for Him, if I could just ‘patch up’ this clay pot, become a better stronger clay pot…

Friends, we are all ordinary clay jars!  And this is what we will remain! Any hope we have of being more… is only found in allowing Christ to shine forth from us, through our clay pots and our brokenness! Through our humanity!

Him, not us!

Father, help us to accept the Truth that we are only human vessels of the Treasure of Jesus; that the Shining from our lives is the Light of Jesus alone.

Yet not I but through Christ in me
