Abide in me

Today’s Encouragement is John 15:4 ESV Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

Abide in me –

The Greek word meno – here translated as Abide, also means: remain, dwell, stay, continue… we would probably use the word ‘live’.

Friends, Jesus here tells us to Stay in Him, make our home, our dwelling place… ‘in’ Him, continuously be with and in Him as our home, the place we live…

This home is not just a place to eat and sleep at night… it is a place where we always are, not a physical location but a state of mind, a dwelling place, a continuous residence.

Friends we are at home in this life, as we abide with, dwell in, remain continually with Jesus.  He’s our Fortress, our Help, our Peace.

This home is Now! And it is Forever!  We don’t just begin to dwell in Jesus after we leave this life, but as we believe in Him and He lives within us, we are Now! dwelling with, abiding in Him.

One day we will be with Him eternally, and yet that eternity has already begun… we can abide, live, make our home with Jesus, now!

Lord Jesus, help us to abide in You. Teach us, guide us, lead us to dwell in, abide in, continue in You. You are our home.

I will bring you home
