Today’s Encouragement is John 13:12 ESV When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you?
Do you understand –
What a question! From Jesus to his disciples; from Jesus to you and me.
We can name (though we may not fully understand) some of the wonderful things that Jesus has done for us:
– Made us righteous, restored a right relationship between man and God
– reversed, erased, corrected our every sin
– made us completely new, reborn
– granted us Eternal Life
– adopted us into His own family
– made us His friends
– and so very much more!!!
Yet, it is true isn’t it, we often really don’t understand what He is doing… and so we ask…. “Why does it have to be this way?” “Why are You silent God?” “Why didn’t you do what I asked for and prayed for?”
Remember that ‘His ways are not our ways.’ (Is 55:8) We often do not understand what He is doing or has done, but! (V7) Jesus answered him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.”
Friends we live by Faith. We Trust Jesus even when we don’t understand the What, Why, or How of His ways. Because we believe Him! Because we choose to Trust Him! And He has told us.. we will understand at some future time!
Father God, help us to trust You when we don’t understand, and when we do. You are our True Hope.
