Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 46:1-2 ESV God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
A very present help –
Ever known someone who never seems to have any troubles? It seems to us they live a rather ‘charmed’ life. No illnesses, no work problems, a blissful marriage, making lots of money… always posting happy pictures on Facebook… you know the type…
Is it possible my friends…
That God has, in His immeasurable mercy and kindness to us,
Allowed us the privilege of some troubles in this life…
God is Omnipresent- everywhere without any limitation. So He is always ‘very present’, always near, always available. So why… ‘in trouble’? Because that’s when we Need Him, Seek Him, Cry out to Him, Pray to Him…
Those people who seem to have it all together, don’t see any need for God’s intervention in their lives… often don’t even want it… “life is pretty good just as it is, thank you very much!”
Yet, as the Psalm reads… in our troubles… God is Very Present!
Now I don’t believe God ‘sends’ or ‘gives’ us troubles, Jesus simply stated, that we would have them, (Matt 16:33) it’s just a part of life here in this broken world.
A line from this song reads, “For if I’d never had a problem, how would I know that God could solve them. How would I know what faith in His Word could do.”
Father God, help thank You for problems and troubles that bring us to You… so that we may know that You are Near! Keep us near to You Lord, whatever that takes.
Through it all
