Today’s Encouragement is 1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT Three things will last forever-faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love.
Will last forever-
Interesting that these three things which last forever – are all dependent upon both God and man. Without Him, faith and hope are meaningless, and love is only selfishness.
Yet these three eternal things… lasting forever… (Selah, pause and consider that) are all between God and us. Without Him these are empty thoughts, and without us, God’s children, they are useless ideals.
Here are some explanatory verses about each:
Faith – Hebrews 11:1 NLT Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. And [v6a] And it is impossible to please God without faith.
Hope – Romans 8:24 NLT We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it.)
Love – 1 John 4:10 NLT This is real love-not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
My friends, these three virtues define the depth of our relationship with God. Of all our possible pursuits, these three have eternal value… our Faith in Jesus, the Salvation and Forgiveness He provides us, our Hope in the promises He has made to us – His good plans for us, protection, and provision and finally God’s Love for us, flowing freely into us, living within us, and overflowing out from us to God and to His people.
Father God, please strengthen our faith, our hope, and our love. That we would be filled with these eternal blessings.
