Today’s Encouragement is Jeremiah 29:12-14 NLT In those days when you pray, I will listen. [13] If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. [14] I will be found by you,” says the LORD. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.”
I will be found –
Did you ever notice? So often Gods promises to us are dependent on our initial action.
See v 13 “If you look for me…” [Then] “you will find me.”
This occurs often in the Word. The “if…then”. So, this leads us to a few clear conclusions. One is this: You may’ve heard the expression, ‘God is a gentleman, He won’t go somewhere He’s not invited.’ He waits on us to initiate.
Like the prodigal son story, God waits for the son to return home…but he’s watching for his son… Could God have gone and rescued the son? Of course… but He waited for the son to initiate, to turn from his failed life, and to start to return home… There are numerous other examples of God inviting us, and then awaiting our response.
Is He inviting us today to take some new step of faith? How will we respond? The blessings of responding to His invitation are immeasurable…
“If you look for me, I will be found by you.” And His blessings will follow!
Father God, help us to sincerely look for You, to seek You, to pursue You… that we may surely find You! Nothing else matters!
