Today’s Encouragement is 2 Chronicles 32:7-8 NLT “’Be strong and courageous! Don’t be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria or his mighty army, for there is a power far greater on our side! [8] He may have a great army, but they are merely men. We have the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!’ Hezekiah’s words greatly encouraged the people.”
Be strong and courageous-
These words were also said centuries before by Moses to Joshua as he assumed leadership of the nation of Israel (Josh 1:9) and later by David to Solomon as he became King in David’s place (1 Chronicle 22:13).
Hezekiah the King encouraged the people with these same words. And we can be encouraged also by these words – because… “there is a power far greater on our side!”
Friends when we see what we’re up against, the battle we are facing: illness, financial stress, divorce, loss of a loved one, depression, anxiety, addiction… whatever enemy is looming to destroy us… God’s power is far greater! And He is with us! And His words to us today are still – “Be strong and courageous!” “We have the Lord to fight our battles for us!”
Father, we are unable to do anything without You (John 15:5), help us to be strong and courageous, to trust in Your strength and Your power to defeat whatever enemy we may face. Because we belong to You, You love us, and You fight for us!
