Rule in your hearts

Today’s Encouragement is Colossians 3:15 NLT And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Rule in your hearts –

Do you notice the sentence style here?  It isn’t a prayer, not a hope, nor a question, but an imperative, an instruction, advice… Let the Peace that comes from Christ- have rule in your hearts!

We choose my friends, as so often God allows us to do so, what it is that “rules” all the authority, all the control, – in our hearts, minds, and emotions.

Is it fear and anxiety that rules our hearts? The worries and cares of this life, or gossip, rumors, despair, depression, doubts, hopelessness… the list of options (all destructive!) is endless… But only one choice, one ‘ruler’ for our hearts is the wise choice… and that is God’s Peace, the Peace that comes from Christ.  He is the Prince of Peace!

And we are counseled to “Let” His peace have all control!  We allow – or we disallow this!

Do you notice how throughout the New Testament, with only a few rare exceptions, Jesus was always at peace!  When the crowds wanted to throw Him off a cliff, called Him names, mocked His teachings… whatever His circumstances, Jesus was at Peace.

Is it possible that Jesus’ mind was fixed upon His Father rather than the threatening circumstances? Isaiah 26:3 NLT “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

Help us Lord to Let, to allow Your Peace to rule our hearts and minds, by fixing our thoughts on You.

I fix my eyes on You
