Hebrews 12:2a NLT We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.
Eyes on Jesus –
Continuing the thought of running the race which ‘God has set before us’ (v1), we a bit further at how we are to run this race.
“Eyes on me!” The leader reminds his followers to keep looking to, at, for Him – for the right thing to do, for the courage, strength, and direction needed for the task at hand. Whether fighting a battle, or running a race, or caring for a neighbor in need… our answer as followers of Christ… is to keep our eyes on Jesus.
Notice the brief description of Jesus which follows – He is the champion, and He began our faith, and He perfects our faith. He does the initiating and completing- the perfecting of our faith!
Our task is just this, to run the race which God placed before us(v1) and keep our eyes focused on Jesus, our Champion, our Leader, Guide, Enabler, and our Perfector!
Father, help us continue to keep our focus clearly and firmly fixed on Jesus, and Him alone, as we continue to run the race You have set before us. We trust that He will strengthen, complete and perfect us in true Faith!
