Today’s Encouragement is Galatians 3:27 ESV “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
Put on Christ –
Let’s face it folks, some of us are lots easier to love than others of us! Some seem to be born with innate beauty, external, physical beauty as well as an internal, pleasant disposition; they make us feel good just being around them! They are somewhat rare, but most of us have known such a person at one time or another.
Now here’s the encouraging part. When God looks at you, thinks of you, sees you… now, already… you are just such a beautiful person to Him!
Our flesh recoils! We say, “C’mon, how can you say that? Look at the mess I’ve made, the people I’ve hurt! God knows everything I’ve done! And just look at this physical body, aging, sagging, bulging… don’t be lying to me! Ain’t nothing lovable or beautiful about me!“
Friends, we see with our human eyes, our limited vision, and our memory of what we were or what we think we should be. But God! He sees us with His perfect eyes, unlimited vision, and an erased memory of what we were! (Hebrews 8:12b “I will never again remember their sins.”)
I once heard this analogy. Take a pen and put it in an open book, now close the book. Do you see the pen? No, we can only see the book which covers and encloses it. And in the same way, when God looks at, considers you and I… all He sees is Christ! His perfect, beloved, pure, and Holy child!
We are His, clothed with Christ, so that we are no longer the focus, but Christ alone remains!
In Christ alone
