Today’s Encouragement is Leviticus 18:4-5 NLT You must obey all my regulations and be careful to obey my decrees, for I am the LORD your God. [5] If you obey my decrees and my regulations, you will find life through them. I am the LORD.
You will find life –
Sadly, most new believers aren’t taught obedience but rather, anything goes, and you’re forgiven! Some older believers (I didn’t say mature) also don’t understand the personal responsibility for choosing to live in God’s way. We simply haven’t been taught.
My friends, of course it is our Faith in Christ which saves us. We accept and believe… And then – we either begin to grow closer to Him through obedience, developing an ongoing relationship with Him… or we to do nothing different, we remain stagnant, making no effort to proactively grow in faith, and this approach ultimately results in sliding, gradually, quietly, away from Him.
As we gradually begin to grasp how wide, high, and deep His Love truly is, we learn to see His Commandments – from the OT or NT, as “The Truth Taught to us by our Loving Father,” Not a list of dos and don’ts, but God’s own Wisdom – kindly provided to help us live wise and blessed lives in this world. Not perfectly but intentionally.
Is it possible my friends that:
We are saved by Grace… but we grow through obedience?
John 13:17 NIV “Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you DO them.”
