Forgiven little

Today’s Encouragement is Luke 7:41-42,47 NLT Then Jesus told him this story: “A man loaned money to two people-500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other. [42] But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?” [47] “I tell you, her sins-and they are many-have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”

Forgiven little-

Let me ask you friend, exactly how much was each debtor forgiven?  The answer is All!  We all are completely forgiven all our sins by the Grace of Jesus.

So, is there any appropriate distinction between these two men? There is not in what they were forgiven, both were forgiven all; but a huge in what they each perceived they were forgiven!  That is, as I understand the depths of my need for forgiveness, the depth of my own depravity, then I begin to grasp the depths of God’s undeserved Grace!  If my sin is 2 feet deep, God’s grace is that deep.  If my sin is 2 miles deep, God’s grace is that deep.  The difference is my understanding of how deep my own sin is, and as I recognize that, then I gain an understanding of how deeply the Grace of God can penetrate to cleanse me!

The greater my gratitude for forgiveness, the greater my Love for God.

Father open our eyes to the depths of our need for Your Grace and Forgiveness, so that we might appreciate and appropriately love you as deeply as You have forgiven us.

Grace
