Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 34:5 NLT Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
No shadow of shame –
Yesterday we considered the radiance of God…now let’s consider the second part of this verse… When we look to Him, God’s radiant Light erases, scatters, removes, the shadow of shame!
My friends, Shame is toxic! It destroys the heart; beats down the soul. It is a merciless tyrant, never satisfied with any form of penance. You may have heard the phrase, “Have you no shame?” spoken to cause someone to reconsider their behavior and try to ‘behave’. There are those who believe shame is a good thing… that it keeps them from sin… I believe shame rather, drives us further into sin!
The Grace of God has set us free from sin and from the shame of our past sin (can’t be ashamed of future sins, Thank God!) but shame is all ‘past’ related. Jesus’ death for our sin was perfect! No sin remains, past, present, or future for those who call up on Him, who look to Him (and become radiant with Joy!)
Turn from the shame my friends, do not let it live within you any longer! Turn your face toward God, seek Him, allow His Light to cause you to become radiant with Joy and cause all shadow of shame to disappear in His Glorious Light!
Lord give us the strength, hope, courage to turn to Your Light, and allow Your Light to banish Shame from our lives forever!
