Today’s Encouragement is Colossians 4:2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
Continue steadfastly-
What do you pray for? How do you pray?
Paul says to pray consistently, steadfastly, expectantly (watchful) with thanksgiving (confident and grateful).
First, Pray! At all times in all circumstances, in all ways…. Pray!
Now when we pray, we are most blessed if we follow biblical guidelines. For example… not praying for selfish, greedy, or foolish reasons, like Janis Joplin’s song – “Oh Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz”!
Rather we are to pray for God’s best for ourselves and others, with consistency and with thankfulness. We can only pray with thankfulness when we consider that God will respond to what we pray about in the way that He knows is best for us, this is confidence.
Of course, we don’t know exactly how God will respond to our every prayer, but our attitude of prayer is most important. Trusting God to address the situation in His way, for His purposes and His plans. This approach recognizes He is Lord, and we ain’t! We bring issues concerns, situations, people before Him and express our thoughts, desires, hopes, yet we also recognize that He is sovereign, and as Jesus demonstrated for us, we always structure our every prayer with, “Here is my prayer Lord, my request, my Hope, nevertheless, You alone are Lord; not my will but Yours be done!”
Help us O Lord to pray with thankfulness, watchful, continuing steadfastly.
Thy will
