Let your roots grow

Today’s Encouragement is Colossians 2:6-7 NLT And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. [7] Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Let your roots grow –

Now that we have accepted Christ – Continue to follow Him – Other translations say, ‘walk in Him’, the idea is ‘Live His Way’. 

And by example, Let your roots grow down into Him – roots provide both moisture and nourishment to support life, to support growth.  We nourish our lives from the abundant blessings of Jesus and then grow in faith and truth and then… we overflow with thankfulness!  Thankfulness is the fruit of our lives when our roots are deep in Jesus.

Or – and the choose is ours…

We ‘nourish’ our lives on the junk food of popular culture, man’s ideas, Facebook memes, and so malnourish our souls.  Then my friends, we overflow with fear, doubts, confusion, and bitterness. 

Father we thank You for Your perfect gift of Jesus our Lord.  Help us to look only to Him to receive all our nourishment, to let our roots grow deep into Jesus.
